In South Africa, Project Management skills are in demand in all sectors and there is a critical need for competent practitioners who can work as project co-ordinators, project leaders and project managers.

The Higher Certificate in Project Management provides for an inclusive set of competencies that will enable a person to manage, co-ordinate or support simple to moderately complex projects in any business sector.

The qualification includes project management competencies required locally and internationally and a selection of management skills that are crucial to a project practitioner.

The modules are designed to provide students with a sound understanding of the core issues in relation to project management, where students would use business and related sector contexts in their studies. The programme is designed to equip students with appropriate skills for them to function effectively in a project management environment.

THE QUALIFICATION IS SUITABLE FOR:
• An individual with an NQF 4 or equivalent qualification, who is unemployed and would like to seek employment in a junior or middle management position in any organization.
• An individual with an NQF 4 or equivalent qualification who is currently employed and is aspiring to move into a junior or middle management position.
• An individual who holds an NQF 4 qualification in an applied area of practice and needs a junior or middle management qualification, that is relevant to his/her career goals.

Fundamentals of Project Management

Purpose:
The purpose of this module is to provide students with basic and fundamental understanding of project management in the context of an organization.

Communication in Project Management

NQF Level: 5 | Credits: 20 | Duration: 3 months
Purpose:
This module introduces students to the basic theories; processes, techniques and skills required to communicate effectively at a project management level.

Information Technology for Project Management

NQF Level: 5 | Credits: 20 | Duration: 3 months
Purpose:
The purpose of this module is to provide a student with knowledge and skills on the importance of information technology and how to manage information technology in a project management environment.

Project Management Process

NQF Level: 5 | Credits: 20 | Duration: 3 months
Purpose:
The purpose of this module is to empower students with the necessary skills to apply appropriate models, techniques, and tools to successfully develop a project plan and assess project risks.

Monitoring and Controlling Projects

NQF Level: 5 | Credits: 20 | Duration: 3 months
Purpose:
The purpose of this module is to provide students with the core knowledge on how to execute, monitor, and control projects successfully in any organisation.

Contemporary Issues in Project Management

NQF Level: 5 | Credits: 20 | Duration: 3 months
Purpose:
The purpose of this module is to enable the student to understand and apply management principles, processes, and competencies to deal with contemporary issues in project management.
